Myles McCormick (July 22): Baker Hughes is bracing itself for an extended period of depressed activity as the threat of a coronavirus resurgence hangs over the U.S. oilfield services industry. CEO Lorenzo Simonelli: “We are preparing for potential future volatility, while also focusing on . . . structurally reducing our cost base.” His comments came as Baker Hughes reported bleak Q2 results, the latest oilfield services group to lay bare the extent of the impact of the oil price crash.
