McNamee Won’t Seek Another FERC Term

At today’s open meeting of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), one of the two Republican commissioners—Bernard McNamee—has announced that he will not stand for a second term when his current term expires on June 30, 2020. This means that FERC could be down to just two commissioners, one Republican (Neil Chaterjee) and one Democrat (Richard Glick), which is one commissioner short of a quorum. This will, undoubtedly, put heightened pressure on the White House to resubmit the Republican nomination of James Danly to the Senate and on the Senate to take up the nomination upon conclusion of the impeachment trial.
