DOE Comment Period Closes – Few Comments Received
LNG Allies was one of only a handful of organizations to comment on the Department of Energy (DOE) study: Life Cycle Greenhouse Gas Perspective on Exporting Liquefied Natural Gas from the United States: 2019 Update that was prepared by DOE’s National Environmental Technology Laboratory (NETL. The comment period closed yesterday (Oct. 21) at 4:30 p.m.

LNG Allies Comments
Our comments focused on the main conclusion in the NETL report: “the use of U.S. LNG exports for power production in European and Asian markets will not increase GHG emissions from a life cycle perspective, when compared to regional coal extraction and consumption for power production.” We included key conclusions from three similar studies published in Environmental Science & Technology, a peer-reviewed journal of the American Chemical Society.
