According to information published on the embassy’s website: “On a four day visit to Washington, Anita Orbán, Hungary’s Special Envoy for Energy Security made the case for U.S. LNG exports to lawmakers and decision makers in the administration.
Testifying before the House Energy and Power Subcommittee, she argued that the United States should seize the opportunity and act now on expediting LNG exports. Dr. Orbán also met with Congressional leaders and key Washington policy makers as well as think tank experts to provide the CEE allies’ perspective on the energy security aspect of the crisis in Ukraine.”
While in D.C. Orbán also met with congressional leaders, including House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) who told her: “We’ve got real friends over in Eastern and Central Europe that need our help. The best way we can help them is to help supply their energy needs, so they’re not as dependent on the Russians.”
In addition to Rep. Boehner, Orbán met with Reps. Cory Gardner (R-CO), James Lankford (R-OK), and Henry Waxman (D-CA), and officials at the White House, Department of State, and DOE. To read more from the Embassy of Hungary: Click Here.
